Take in a 360-degree tour of Brisbane with a spin on the big wheel! Travel 60m above the ground in an air-conditioned gondola, and experience the sights of Brisbane – you can even book a sky high picnic for an extra treat!

The Wheel of Brisbane takes 10-15 minutes and includes four rotations, with a stop at the top to capture the sights. You’ll see Mount Coot-tha, the Botanical Gardens, the Goodwill Bridge, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the rest of the Brisbane skyline.

The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is just 5kms from Brisbane city centre, within the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha.

You can enjoy a show in the Cosmic Skydome, a 12.5m projection dome, or take a tour of Brisbane’s current night sky with one of our astronomers. Don’t miss the Planetarium’s Display Zone where kids will enjoy taking an astronomical journey from the Big Bang to the present day.

General entry to the Planetarium is free, however shows in the Cosmic Skydome are ticketed. Many of the Cosmic Shows are for ages 6 years and up, however there is also a schedule of kids shows, including The Little Star That Could or Perfect Little Planet.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary and an amazing choice for a day out! Just 12kms from Brisbane, the sanctuary has over 130 koalas to see – and kids will love it.

There are opportunities to hold koalas, hand feed kangaroos and see more Australian wildlife in a natural habitat. Check out the daily activity schedule to see what time all the events are on – you won’t want to miss the keeper talks and feeding times.

There is lots to see and do at Frew Park! Formerly the Milton Tennis Centre and Milton Bowl site, this 3.5 hectare city parkland is now a fun space for the family to enjoy. You’ll find the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre, The Arena play space, Wendy Turnbull Green, picnic areas and more.

The Arena playground is spectacular and has towers, tunnels, climbing walls, bridges, slides, swings and so many more things to hang from, climb on and explore. Two areas ensure that there’s space for little ones as well as more adventurous older kids.

Less than an hour from Brisbane is Dreamworld, a fantastic theme park with lots to see and do. In ABC Kids World, your kids can interact with their favourite Australian TV characters, including Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog and Captain Feathersword from The Wiggles

At the DreamWorks Experience, they can enjoy characters like the Madagascar gang, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda’s Po. Then take a stroll through Trolls Village, ride the thrill coasters, take a splash in the water park, then venture to Dreamworld Corroboree to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, culture, wildlife and stories.

Go for a hike or try your hand at rock climbing and abseiling – Kangaroo Point Cliffs is the perfect place for adventurers!

Pack a picnic or grab something on the go, because the Cliffs are a fantastically scenic place to stop and see across the River to the city and mountains beyond.

Take a free 15-minute tour up the iconic Clock Tower at City Hall, which for more than 30 years was the tallest structure in the city. Four giant bells, weighing over 3 tonnes, still chime every 15 minutes, and a 4.3 tonne bell strikes on the hour mark.

The tower itself is 92m high, with an observation deck at 73m for amazing views over the city. Be prepared – the tour takes you up in a beautifully restored hand-operated lift.

Hop on one of many CityCats, CityHoppers and cross-river CityFerries and travel from the Regatta to South Bank and The University of Queensland, Hawthorne to Riverside express and South Bank to New Farm. Terminals are located along the Brisbane River between St Lucia and Hamilton.

The infamous Brisbane sign was originally made from plywood by local Men’s Shed groups for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in 2014, and was meant to be a temporary installation – however, it became so popular that it was recreated and is a now a permanent South Bank fixture.

The sign is the perfect backdrop for fun photos, silly selfies and some creative family snaps – go ahead and get snap happy!
