As a busy mum of 2 with a full time job, a trip to a spa is a rare treat. But over the years, I have realised that I don’t need to miss out. I set aside a night a month, or more often if I can, to indulge in my own home spa where I can relax, unwind and pamper myself. And as my daughters have grown, they too enjoy nothing better than an evening of self care rituals.

As everything reopens, we are going to treat ourselves to a spa break, but until then, check out how you can create a blissful home spa experience to enjoy anytime.

Have Your Say

Don’t miss the chance to have your say! We’re looking for parents to get involved and give their feedback on all aspects of family life.

Ways to Create Your Home Spa Experience

Now would be the perfect time to check in to a luxury spa, but as we can’t escape to a real-life retreat, we give you ideas on how to create your very own home spa!

So press the reset button and create a blissful home spa experience for yourself. If you are looking for great value home spa products to try out we can recommend the  Ziaja BALTIC HOME SPA range. The collection includes nine carefully crafted spa-powered products – skin softening soaks, invigorating body scrubs, firming oils & serum with an energising mango scent to help you feel reinvigorated, revived and looking radiant. All products are 100% vegan and contain up to 99% ingredients of natural origin.

Each product is less than €10, made with rich, natural ingredients like energising caffeine, antioxidative fig extract, and nourishing tropical illipe butter – everything you need for a moment of indulgence at a reasonable price.

Find the range at select Dunnes Stores, SuperValu and pharmacies nationwide or shop online at originalbeauty.ie.

Set the Date

We all live busy lives. It sounds strange to say we need to book in some me time, but sometimes I find that is the only way I will actually make time for myself. I usually pick a Friday or Saturday evening, but a midweek treat can also be a perfect pick me up.

Set the Scene

To fully immerse yourself in the at home spa experience, you need to set the scene. Soft, fluffy towels and a fluffy robe, slippers, dimmed lights, scented candles or essential oils burning and soothing spa music. I find instrumental music is best to get me fully relaxed. Declutter the space and just have what you need to hand. This usually includes a healthy smoothie to enjoy as I relax in the bath.

Clear your Mind

Turn off the tech and do some breathing exercises to help clear the mind. Remember this is your time to recharge so forget about all that is going on at work or at home and get ready to relax.

Brush Away

As the bath is filling, use a body brush to dry brush skin in small, circular movements. This will help increase circulation and blood flow and begins the exfoliation process at the same time.

Relaxation Time

Press the reset button and create a blissful home spa experience with Ziaja Baltic Home Spa Collection.

Everything you need for a moment of indulgence at a reasonable price.

Bathing Treats

Fill the bath with steaming hot water. Add your bath product of choice and immerse yourself in the warm water to soothe away the stresses of the day. If you don’t have access to a bath, turn up the temperature in the shower to create steam which will open the pores.

Treat your Hair

After shampooing your hair, treat it with a mask or deep conditioner to bring it back to life. I usually wash my hair beforehand in the shower and add the mask before getting into the bath.

Treat your Face

Exfoliate, cleanse and condition with your favourite face mask. Before scrubbing your face clean and moisturising for maximum spa effect.

Treat your Skin

Don’t forget your body too. The dry brush will have started the exfoliation process, but I also use a scrub before applying oils to moisturise and treat my skin for a healthy glow.

Baltic Home Spa

Hand and Foot Massage

Once out of the bath, I massage my hands and feet with lotion and work on my cuticles to keep them healthy.

Hydration

Along with moisturising my face, I use an all over body moisturiser to hydrate my skin. My daughters like to use a tinted body cream during the winter months for a natural looking healthy glow.

Try it out for yourself using the Ziaja Baltic Home Spa range which is available to pick up with your groceries in select Dunnes Store, SuperValu or from pharmacies nationwide. You can also order online and have everything delivered direct to your door.
