To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Harry Potter-themed range, LEGO has come up with a fabulous experience for families – augmented reality Harry Potter themed treasure hunts, and they sound amazing fun!
You can go on a Mystery Hunt to solve clues and find the location of a life-sized LEGO Ford Anglia, the famous car from the books and films. If you are based in the UK, there are different treasure hunts in 3 cities, and for those not in the UK or near those cities, good news, there’s a virtual experience available too.
Augmented Reality LEGO Harry Potter Themed Treasure Hunts
LEGO are calling all witches, wizards and muggles to join in at a city near them, or online, to help track down the hidden Ford Anglia.
For those muggles based in the UK with a Harry Potter fan in the house, if you are near London, Edinburgh and Cardiff, you’re in luck! There’s a city hunt taking place on November 6th and 7th where you can find clues, use augmented reality to unlock secret words to find the location of the Ford Anglia car that’s been made out of LEGO.
Families can experience this regardless of where they live. You can go online, travel virtually around the UK and join in the LEGO Harry Potter magical mystery hunt.
How to Participate in the LEGO Harry Potter Treasure Hunts
No tickets are required, it’s free for all, and anyone can take part.
There are two ways to participate:
- Find a Gold LEGO® Harry Potter™ Statue in London, Edinburgh or Cardiff to start your adventure, and use your phone to solve clues.
- Enjoy the hunt online solving the clues
The city-based hunts take 45 minutes, and if you are doing the online version it should take about 20 minutes.
You will need access to a mobile phone device with 4G or 5G mobile data capability to take part in the city hunts. For those taking part at home, you need a mobile or tablet and internet.
UK City Treasure Hunts
Each city hunt begins at a three-foot, gold LEGO Harry Potter statue, and participants have to solve clues in a race against the clock. Players use their phones to solve clues using augmented reality. The goal is to find the three secret words to reveal where exactly the life-size LEGO Ford Anglia is located.
The finder of the car will win a range of prizes, including LEGO Harry Potter and tickets to Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
The Gold LEGO® Harry Potter™ Statues are located in Covent Garden in London, Castle Street in Edinburgh and Castle Street in Cardiff and will be there on Saturday 6th and 7th November 2021.
How to Join in Virtually
For those unable to join the LEGO Harry Potter magical mystery hunt in person, there is an option to take part virtually to be in with a chance of winning prizes. Just stop by the LEGO website on Saturday 6th November to load the digital experience and start playing to solve the mystery.
