South Dublin County Heritage Trail App
Discover some of the history and lesser known sights around South Dublin when you download the free interactive heritage trail app.
From an 8th century round tower, a 12th century weir, a 16th century stately home to a 17th century hunting lodge in the Dublin mountains, you will discover over a 1,000 years of Dublin’s history all in one handy app.
The app has both audio and visual guides, and can be downloaded directly to your mobile so you can plan your days out and explore at your own pace. It’s available in English, Irish, French and German.

National Famine Way App
The National Family Way App and audio trail is centred around one of the original family walkers who walked from Strokestown in Roscommon to Dublin, 12 year old Daniel Tighe.
Daniel eventually made his way from Dublin to Quebec in Canada and survived the horrific journey.
The app is designed to accompany you along the trail and has videos and interviews with famine experts who have previously walked the trail and tells you of services nearby, landmarks and gives you a history of what happened along the famine way during the famine.

Eco Explorers App
Want an easy way to teach your children about sustainability? SSE Airtricity and Dublin Zoo have teamed up to help families learn more about sustainability.
Discover the Eco Explorers Trail at Dublin Zoo with the help of the Eco Explorers app. Learn what Dublin Zoo is doing to protect our precious planet and what you can do too!
The app, which can be used on any tablet or smartphone, encourages explorers to enjoy their natural spaces and think positively about sustainability and play.
It identifies nine Eco Explorer stations for parents and kids to discover as they explore Dublin Zoo, teaching children simple steps to becoming more sustainable such as making compost, recycling, and harvesting rain water.
Every time you complete a task you’ll receive an Eco Explorer badge. Once you have completed all nine stations you’ll be a fully-fledged Eco Explorer! You can also continue the learning and activities at home too.
The SSE Airtricity Eco Explorer Trail includes some great ‘Did you know?’ facts too. For instance, did you know that Dublin Zoo harvests rainwater from the roofs of several of its buildings and uses this to flush some of its public toilets? So far the SSE Airtricity water stations in have also saved us from using over 166,343 plastic bottles at Dublin Zoo.
