There is something so cheerful and just plain happy about sunflowers! The large faces, bright colours, and often giant size makes them so engaging and fun that a visit to one of these sunflower fields in Ireland should definitely be on your to do list this summer.
The window of time to harvest the sunflowers is quite short, so make the most of the opportunity. Many of these fields have been set up to raise funds for charity, combining a great day out with a worthwhile cause.
Visiting Sunflower Fields in Ireland
Some tops tips that will make your visit to the sunflower fields a success include:
- Bring scissors or secateurs to cut your sunflowers with
- Wear appropriate footwear in the fields (no sandals or flip flops)
- Some fields are cash only
- Keep an eye on the sunflower fields’ social channels before visiting. Days and times can change at short notice.
Meath Sunflower Farm
Meath Sunflower Field is next to Causey Farm in Fordstown, Co Meath. Priced €5 per person or €15 for a family (2022 pricing) and everyone gets 5 stems each to take home. The sign says open Saturday and Sunday from 11-6pm, but extra days during the week are often announced on social channels.

St Francis Hospice Sunflower Field, Ballyboughal, Dublin
Raising much needed funds for St Francis Hospice, this sunflower field can be found in Ballyboughal, off the Swords Road.
It is open 24/7 with an honestly box or you can donate online.
Field of Hope, Quigley’s Point, Donegal
In memory of her husband, son and daughter who died in a car crash in August 2020, Geraldine Mullen planted the Field of Hope sunflower field on the Inishowen peninsula. With sunflowers planted in a maze in the shape of the word ‘hope’, this beautiful memorial is designed to bring some hope and joy to allt hose who visit.
The Field of Hope opens to the public around August 19th from 12-5pm for 3 to 4 days.
Kilkenny Sunflower Field
Please Note: Not Opening for 2023
Kilkenny Sunflower Field is located in Kilbride Callan. Run in aid of Taxi Watch Suicide Prevention, it opens every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-7pm.

Galway Pumpkin Patch
Galway Sunflower Picking is Galway’s only Pick Your Own Sunflower Event. The field, which is located in Ardrahan, is at the same site as the well known Galway Pumpkin Patch, which takes place in October. Entry is €12 per adult, that gets you 5 large stems /1 bunch , or €24 for a family of any size, and you can pick 10 stems.

Sunflower Field Portglenone, Antrim
The Sunflower Field is open daily from 10am-8pm, unless otherwise stated on their socials. Sunflowers cost £1.50 a stem or 4 for £5 (2022 pricing).

Sunflowers for Ukraine, Gunpoint, Schull, West Cork
The Sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine, and a symbol of peace, solidarity and hope. The sunflower field was open in 2022 but no information is available for 2023.
